The Kings County Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Aware clinical training is a previously recorded interactive 2.5-hour webinar session. It is offered to Medi-Cal staff and will provide a foundation to integrate ACEs screening and offer support to respond with trauma informed care, referrals, and resources unique to Kings County. Please note that this training does not certify primary care providers to receive Medi-Cal ACE screening reimbursements A list of certified Core Trainings and approved Supplemental Trainings is available at the ACEs Aware website. However, at the completion of this training, our participants can claim CEU credits. Our clinical training has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM and ANCC, CBRN, APA, AAPA, and ASWB CE credits.

    Objectives
    • Define Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their prevalence, health disparities in these data, toxic stress physiology, and related impacts on health, including underlying biological mechanisms.
    • Identify how to introduce and integrate screening for ACEs and toxic stress into clinical care, aligning with trauma-informed care principles.
    • Apply the ACEs and Toxic Stress Risk Assessment Algorithm for assessing risk for toxic stress, which includes a combination of screening for ACEs, identifying presence and extent of ACE-Associated Health Condition(s), and protective factors, in determining an appropriately tailored treatment and follow-up plan, including referrals, if indicated.
    • Describe resilience and resilience techniques within a trauma-informed framework.
    • Describe the benefits of patient centered care.
    • Describe how to find community resources for referrals to mitigate toxic stress.
